Scientists trial acne vaccine
There has been a lot of work around understanding the microbiome (natural bacterial population) of skin and the once touted cause of acne, propionibacterium acnes, is now recognised as having a more complex role in skin health.
Some strains of propionibacterium acnes generate inflammatory metabolites and scientists in the United States are working on a vaccine to alleviate the effects of those particular strains.
